We have had a challenging year to say the least and New Year’s Eve is set to be very different from previous years. Instead of planning a night on the town and seeing your extended family or friends, Hogmanay has essentially been cancelled so many of us are looking towards a night in with members of our household. But just because we can’t go out, it doesn’t mean we can’t have a great New Year’s Eve 2021 – especially as many of us will be glad to see the back 2020.

So, get ready to celebrate in quarantine with these New Year’s Eve ideas to ensure that staying in can be just as fun as going out.

A breakfast or brunch to remember

Start your day off as you mean to go on with a special breakfast or brunch. Make it a festive dish and you could even splash out on some Champagne or Bucks Fizz. How about having a light breakfast and ordering afternoon tea to be delivered to your home? Here are some of the places that you can order afternoon tea from.

Get dressed up and have cocktails

Just because you’re staying in it doesn’t mean you can’t dress up! Put on a fabulous outfit and get in the mood celebrating. Get in some bubbly and make a champagne cocktail! There are lots of recipes online so get prepared in advance. Here are some recipe ideas.

Have a games night

Everyone loves games especially the kids, so find some games that the whole family will enjoy. From Bingo to Cards Against Humanity to Bananagrams and Frustration – the possibilities are endless. You could also arrange a game night over zoom with your friends and family! Here are some great games ideas.

Have a festive dinner

Make your last meal of 2020 one to remember! Make a delicious dinner or even order in – why not recreate Christmas dinner to prolong the Christmas festivities! Many local restaurants are offering delivery but make sure you order in advance.

Watch a great movie – outside?

Why not watch a classic with some candles for a cosy night in. Settle in with some Champers and canapes and choose from one of these New Year’s Eve movies! If it’s not raining, why not do something completely different and watch a movie outside on a projector under the stars with a firepit or patio heater and some warm blankets! Here are some of the best movies to watch this month.
