Parklife

Rouken Glen Park is Newton Mearns most popular tourist attraction. It is a 143-acre historic park, which dates back to 1530. The park is a wonderful mix of formal and informal spaces. It features a walled garden, boating pond, newly developed children’s play park, garden centre, waterfall and woodland walks, a café restaurant, outdoor fitness facilities and skate park. It also hosts events throughout the year, including the annual ‘Electric Glen’ event, which proves to be a sell-out year after year.

Greenbank House and Garden in Newton Mearns is run by the National Trust for Scotland. Greenbank House and its walled garden were built for Robert Allason in the 1760s. In 1962 and the estate was purchased by William Blyth, who set to work transforming the garden into the design that can be seen today. In 1976, William gifted Greenbank House and Garden to the National Trust for Scotland. The house is surrounded by pretty woodland, stunning gardens and it even has garden games and musical instruments for children to enjoy, which are located beside the courtyard café.
