An exciting announcement for any budding football enthusiasts born in 2005 – Busby Amateur Football Club is on the hunt for new players to join its Under 12’s team.
All standards of players are welcome, so no experience is required. This is really great opportunity for local boys and girls to try a new sport or enhance their existing skills with the help of seasoned coach Dean McKirdy.
Established in 1980 by the present Match Secretary Alan Bruce, Busby AFC has experienced incredible growth and now has over 300 playing members with teams to suit all age groups, from 4 years old to adult seniors. In fact, some adults have been with the club since the very beginning, progressing through each of the Junior and Youth teams during their football careers. Many even end up coaching the younger generations, passing on the valuable knowledge and skills they’ve gained from their own experiences at the club.
A team sport provides wonderful opportunities for children and adults alike, from establishing new friendships, staying fit and healthy, building confidence, and improving valuable life skills like concentration, discipline, commitment, respect and learning to take feedback – it’s more than simply kicking a ball about a field! Regular games and practice sessions are also great ways for parents and guardians to make new friends in the local community, particularly for anyone who has recently moved to the East Renfrewshire area.
The team plays every Saturday at the club’s home grounds in Overlee Park, with local training sessions two evenings per week. If your child is interested in joining the team, or even just trying their hand at football to see if it’s something they enjoy, please call or text the Under 12’s team coach, Dean McKirdy, on 07833-391-706.
We hope to see you soon!
