Autumn interior design trends are already emerging. Following a challenging 18 months it’s no surprise that warmth, comfort, and inspiration from nature will all feature in our homes this year. We are looking forward to hunkering down in the colder months and making the most of our homes. The website Online Mortgage Advisor commissioned research into what Pinterest site users are adding to their inspiration boards in the run up to autumn and it appears that this year is all about comfort.
As we leave the summer months and approach autumn, deep forest green and room dividers are top of our interiors wish lists according to Pinterest. Although nature inspired interiors feature every year, this year more people than ever want to bring nature into their homes – perhaps as a result of being locked down for many months at a time.
As the temperature falls, we often bring warmth into our homes using colour. Autumn tones such as pops of burnt orange, forest green and yellows are an effective way to evoke feelings of nature. If you don’t want to make a permanent change, you can do this with soft furnishings such as curtains, rugs, throws, and cushions as well as wall art to bring lovely warm tones to your home.
According to the research, the most popular colour is currently dark green followed by warm neutrals. Dark green tones have soared in popularity in recent years, especially when introduced in plush soft furnishings or in velvet fabric furniture. These work with neutral wall tones as well as yellow or orange accent colours.
