Winter Weather:
With the festive season fast approaching, we wanted send you all our well wishes as well as notify you of our opening times over the next few weeks. In addition, we thought it would be helpful to offer some practical advice on safeguarding your home if it’s likely to be unoccupied for more than a day or two.
Heating – If you are away from your property, you should ensure at all times that the temperature does not fall below 10 degrees. As we have experienced in recent winters, Glasgow can suffer some extreme weather conditions at very short notice and if you are away, you may be unable to adjust the heating accordingly. To avoid boiler breakdowns or frozen pipes please make every effort to keep your property heated.
If you are away for any extended period, please go around the property ensuring that there are no taps dripping or any obvious water leaks. For those of you with gas central heating, radiator valves should be left open and the thermostat or the boiler in the property should be turned up (if applicable). Ensure that the central heating timer is set adequately for the heating to come on for at least 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the evening or longer if you think necessary.
For electric heating you should turn up the temperature and prolong the times the heaters are on.
We would recommend setting time clocks to provide lighting in prominent rooms within the property for added security.
